Brick Coast Main Line, the UK’s largest portable Lego Railway will be one of the highlights at this year’s Ashford Festival of Railway Modelling taking place over the weekend of 12/13th April. Using over 150,000 bricks, models of Stonehenge, Locomotion Museum and the Forth Bridge will be linked together by over 100m of track featuring a variety of well- known locomotives skilfully created from Lego bricks!
In what promises to be one of the biggest and best model railway exhibitions in the South East this year, visitors will enjoy 40 model railways in nine different scales and gauges, many coming to Kent for the first time.
From the BR blue era in the North West of “St Seeb” to the Great Western seaside terminus of “St Johns”, and the mountain ranges of “Joganji River” to the wooded countryside of “Artist’s Valley” , there will be a wide range of layouts to inspire and entertain. Local interest will be catered for by layouts “Lydd on Sea”, “Oxley Heath”, “Hops Farm” and “Holmeshurst”. In an exhibition first, Gordon and Maggie Gravett’s superb layouts Pempoul and Arun Quay will be exhibited together for the first time and there will be five brand new layouts not exhibited before.
Trade and society stands will be attending selling a range of new and second hand items.
The festival is being organised by Ashford International Model Railway Education Centre (AIMREC) and takes place in Ashford Town Centre on the weekend of 12/13 April. Layouts are located in two adjacent venues Ashford College and the Elwick Club'
